We started operations in 1993 at the current beachside location in Petitenget, Bali, adjacentr to Petitenget Temple (one of the 6 most important Balinese "Directional" Temples). The Australian owners decided on a traditional approach to the design of the restaurant, a design that has endured the test of time and the dramatic weather conditions that Bali experiences during the monsoon season. In 2005 saw the addition of the Frangipani Lounge and The Firefly Room, The Firefly Room derived its name from the Italian meaning of La Lucciola. Many famous people have enjoyed La Lucciola over the years including Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Oliver Stone, Donna Karan, Giselle Bunchen Francis Ford Coppola. Hugh Jackman. Jamie Oliver, Roman Polanski, Valentino, Linda Evangelista, Tim Robbins. Susan Sarandon. Baz Luhrmann, Elle Macpherson, Lisa Kudrow and Cristiano Ronaldo.
La Lucciola is still as busy as ever in it's 26th year having become known internationally for consistently great Italian cuisine accentuated by the genuine warmth of Balinese hospitality.
